WrestleShoot Report (TV Tapings for May 15th)
First off...let me start out with the fact that we DID have a WrestleShoot TV taping on Sunday May 15th! It was NOT however, our USUAL TV taping. However...what an INTERESTING WrestleShoot this was! While I was at a loss as to just what we were going to do, I must say...I CAN'T believe that I saying this, but "THANK GOD for Conquistador # 2"!
Due to a lack of communication between the primary group of UWA owners...NONE of whom were in attendance at this taping, "we" had to fly by the seat of our pants! But DAMNIT...we DID NOT CANCEL! We DID tape WrestleShoot TV!
Now, the owners and their individual reasons for not being there, while they may be valid enough...and I'm sure that were, not withstanding, SHOULD have been discussed with each other AND others who are involved in the tapings of WrestleShoot TV. Others involved INCLUDING myself, being the Host of the damn show, and Will Louden, who ended up being sound man, camera man, lighting man, maintenance man, janitor, and EVERYTHING else that needed to be done before I arrived in our Carmichael studios from my home in Marysville.
ALSO, considering that Will and I did NOT know UNTIL 15 minutes before scheduled tape-time, that a MAJORITY of the talent scheduled to appear, had been told that the taping had been CANCELLED! The only talent that showed up to appear were the NEW UWA Cruiserweight Champion, Vega, the NEW Woman's Champion, Sexie Lexie (on crutches, by the way), and The Big Kahuna Lance Bermuda. Oh, and of course, the ever-present Conquistador # 2! And that was it!
So, due to the lack of communication, we had quite a dilema. We weren't exactly sure what we were going to do.
Then I saw a familiar face walking towards the building...WCWA (West Coast Wrestling Alliance) Superstar, Alexis Schmirnoff Jr.! COOL, I thought! I had worked with the GREAT Russian Superstar, THE Alexis Schmirnoff, in my pre-WWF days. So, I then made the decision...since Will and I were PUT in charge of the taping, we would work an Interview segment with the former WCWA Ring of Fire Champion, Schmirnoff, who graciously consented to share his thoughts and comments.
Now, while I have had my run-ins with, and don't see eye-to-eye with the 2nd generation Superstar from Moscow, Russia, we DO have a mutual respect and love for the business. So, despite the fact that we did not have enough talent to tape our usual 4 or 5 UWA matches on WrestleShoot TV, we DID have the ingrediants to produce some interview segments! And so, that's exactly what we did.
And so, wthout all of our usual UWA Talent not being in attendance, we DID have an ENTERTAINING, FUNNY, and at times, ABSOLUTELY HILARIOUS WrestleShoot TV taping!!!
As for my co-host, Conquistador # 2...he made the show a success! From his inept enterance into the ring, and his "help" with the News and Notes, to his impressions of our guest from our last taping, Otis and his "insightful" babbling and mocking through our interview segment with Special Guest, WCWA (West Coast Wrestling Alliance) Superstar, Alexis Schmirnoff Jr. (who inappropiately SLAPPED the Conquistador), who had some interesting comments, including some DIRECTLY sent to The Big Kahuna Lance Bermuda.
"# 2" came out with a hand-drawn sign offering a reward for "his" missing UWA Women's Championship "Belto", which was recently taken from him by Sexie Lexie in Modesto! The Conquistador had a few words and names for Lexie however!
The Conquistador had the audience...except for of course, the smirking Russion, HOWLING and doubling over in laughter
I even got my new friend, Desiree Morris up into the ring to shake Conquistador # 2's hand. But after some of his earlier shenanigans, she wouldn't shake his hand because, as she said, "I don't know where that hand has been!" Good call, Desiree!
Then, just before we signed off, in walked the NEW UWA Woman's Champion, Sexie Lexie, who was hobbling on crutches. This was as a result of pulling ligaments in her knee at the UWA Fat Cat Modesto Bar Show just 5 days prior.
So, I left the announce position inside the ring, went to the floor, and asked Lexie how it felt being the new Woman's Champion. She answered this by of course being happy, but a little quiet and dejected due to the knee injury...which was understandable. She also stated that it was just ligament pull, rather than the originally diagnosed tear, and that she would be out about another week. And THAT was GREAT news!
So, we wrapped it up for this INTERESTING, albeit without the usual in-ring wrestling action, episode of WrestleShoot TV.
I'll let you know just when we will be back with the next taping.
And so...finally, I say to all of you who were there...THANK YOU for your support for WrestleShoot TV!
My thanks once again to Will Louden...Soundman, Cameraman, Lighting Technician, Maintenance Man, Janitor, Housekeeping...you name it, he did it! THANKS, Will!
And thank you Vega, Lexie, Lance Bermuda, Conquistador # 2, and Alexis Schmirnoff Jr.! And Thank You to ALL of our WrestleShoot TV fans!
We ALL had a BLAST!!!
