WrestleShoot Report (TV Tapings for 4-10-05)
An interesting afternoon of WrestleShoot TV tapings took place at the UWA Academy of Professional Wrestling, at the La Sierra Community Center in Carmichael, California.
A series of four UWA match-ups took place in and around the usual two WrestleShoot TV episodes, with some interesting participants.
In the first match of the afternoon, 1/2 of the UWA Tag Team Champions, Rage met and disposed of Conquistador #1, with relative ease. The Conquistador provided little by way of offense against the much larger Rage.
Next up was the first episode of WrestleShoot, with the well-received GREAT news on the progress of my good friend, Earthquake John Tenta in his battle with cancer (see the www.unitedwrestlingalliance.com forums board-EARTHQUAKE WATCH thread for the complete report)!
Then, we had an interview segment with Ridiculous Mike Rayne and, making his OFFICIAL return to UWA...Rayne's Manager, Ric Micheals, who somehow even though, despite my victory over Micheals at a recent UWA Event at the La Sierra Community Center, in a Loser Leaves UWA Match, which forced him out of the UWA, somehow was able to get himself re-instated, much to my surprise and disappointment.
Now, Micheals was sporting a neck-brace, compliments of UWA Commissioner, Wildthing Rob Wilds. Wilds, just the day before at the UWA House Show at the Academy, drilled Micheals with the Wilds-Driver, injuring the neck of the Manager.
It was during this interview when Micheals served Commissioner Wilds and myself with a Legal Order document, stating that former UWA Hardcore Champion, the Big Ugly J.D. Bishop was basically and wrongly, stripped of the Hardcore Title for not defending the Belt in the required 30-day limit. Bishop and Micheals contended in their legal action that, while Bishop admittedly failed to defend the Title in the afore-mentioned 30-day window, this is because he was NOT contacted to be a part of any UWA Events, and was, in fact told by UWA Owner Wilds that he wasn't needed at the time and that everything was "cool".
In addition to this, Bishop and Micheals asked for and WAS awarded with an injunction, barring the acknowledged Hardcore Champion, Chris "Psycho" Ward from defending the UWA Hadrcore Championship until this matter can be settled in court.
Also, during this interview, Mike Rayne challenged Rob Wilds to a match, one-on-one, later on WrestleShoot. After some name-calling and coaxing, Wilds accepted the challenge.
So, ended the first episode of WrestleShoot.
From there, we had two more matches. The first featured a Tag Team match, pitting UWA Academy Champion, Vega and his partner, newcomer Nick Rage, making his UWA debut facing UWA Cruiserweight Champion, the Flamboyant Rik Luxury and his partner, another newcomer, also making his UWA debut, Surge.
This was a fast-paced affair. I was definitely impressed with newcomers, Nick Rage and Surge respectively. They are fast, powerful, AND intense combatents inside the squared circle. After a solid and entertaining back-and-forth battle, and after a surprise tag-in, Luxury and Surge came out victorious over Vega and Nick Rage.
Then, in a surprise return, Conquistador #1 made his way back to face the other half of the UWA Tag Team Title holders, Steel. The Conquistador actually showed a little more offense in this match-up before falling to Steel in the end.
Rob Wilds and I returned to our announce position in the ring for WrestleShoot, with more news and notes. Then, in what turned out to be a HILARIOUS segment, we welcomed as our next interview guests...The Conquistadors, # 1 and #2.
Now, I say HILARIOUS because neither of The Conquistadors speaks very fluent English, and Rob and I are NOT known for our Spanish-speaking prowess, this turned in to a laugh-fest with The Wildthing and myself laughing almost uncontrollingly! The spectators in the studio followed suit in howling out loud at the antics of the two masked grapplers from Mexico! The Conquistadors, while inept and clumsey, made fans of many of those in attendence...INCLUDING myself!
Following the second WrestleShoot TV, things got very serious as Wildthing Rob Wilds took on the challenge of Ridiculous Mike Rayne. Rayne came to the ring accompanied by his once-again Manager Ric Micheals and Valet, the Lovely, Sexie Lexie. Seeing Micheals out there with Rayne, Wilds brought out Chris "Psycho" Ward and Vega, just to counter any outside interference from Micheals.
This was an extremely hard-hitting and intense match featuring these two men, who were once-close friends. While initially, Ward and Vega offset any interference by Ric Micheals, Vega was soon taken out of the equation when he was attacked from behind by Rik Luxury. The two battled all the way bact to the dressing rooms and weren't seen again. Then, everytime Micheals tried to get involved, The Psyco One countered that. Then, when Ward seemed to be quite taken with Sexie Lexie, and his attention was drawn to her, Micheals did his dirty work, including smashing Wilds in the back with a parking sign. However, the referee saw this action and disqualified Rayne due to outside interference, giving Wilds the victory. It didn't end there, as Wilds dis-mantled Micheals left and right with chops, stomps, punches, and the parking sign...leaving Ric Micheals laying in the middle of the ring.
And so, another taping of WrestleShoot TV came to an end.
