Ever since becoming aware of the UWA by being called in to help out at an event, and a long-time casual fan of pro wrestling, I've decided t throw my proverbial hat into the ring and help out. Responses via email haven't been forth-coming yet, but that's a minor detail at this point.
I thoroughly enjoyed working at the May 22, 2004 event. I ran into one of my neighbors a few days after the show, who came to me asking if I was the one there, to which I did give a positive response. He had a good time and had his picture taken with Kevin Nash. He had an enjoyable time at this event, so that is a good thing. People who enjoy these types of shows are willing to support pro wrestling.
Let's also face it, the stars of the show are the wrestlers. After all, it is a wrestling event. Working at this level, you have to be doing this because you love what you are doing. These guys are doing something they enjoy. As the wrestlers love what they do, I love what I do, which is a professional sound engineer. Well, for purposes of this post, I am a sound engineer. In my day job, I'm a network engineer and own my own networking company. The UWA event was one of the more fun and enjoyable events I've done recently, and to be honest, I'd rather have fun at events while working hard than just doing a plain old wedding reception or something boring like that. For me, it's always about doing your best and ensuring the best possible sound, regardless of payment or lack of payment.
So, let me flex some muscle on my scrawny frame. I have a large sound system, which I am willing to use the whole thing for UWA events. Business details will NOT be discussed here. But, what I am saying is that my sound company is available. UWA won't have to worry about problems or concerns as I'm fully self-contained with a 4-person crew. I am a tad light on the lighting side of things, but that is another discussion. Flexing some more muscle, I do work regularly with A-list musicians and performers as well as a concert promotion company and the larger production houses in the area. Granted, UWA doesn't have the monetary muscle such as the WWE, but, I've got ideas and vision that hopefully won't cost much money and will improve the production of the shows. Let's give the fans as close to the big show experience as possible!
This area in general is rather starved for entertainment. I regularly travel down Stockton Blvd near Downtown and see this dumpy little theater used for wrestling events. I wonder how well it does? But, it's always promoted on the marquee. UWA needs more word on the street, more marketing, more advertising. The word needs to get out about UWA. Let's get UWA in everybody's faces and get lots of events. The wrestlers work hard on their skills, so let's give them places to entertain and reasons to entertain others.
Spread the word! Pound the pavement. Watch wrestling on TV with your friends and mention the UWA to them. My web site(which I host) has links to the UWA site as well as some photos from the last performance.
I've got lots of skills the UWA might want to utilize. We'll be in contact soon and this board is going to be one of my daily visits.
