okay... I went out of my way this week to see the ECW PPV and the new hour long Sci Fi show just to see how WWE will change the product to make it more.... well more WWE and less ECW.
PPV = 7 out of 10 (last years was better, but neither were ECW)
TV = 1 out of 10,000
Okay, the fake audience sounds right off the bat killed me. There was "E-C-W" chants with no one talking, or chears for people that did not get cheared. Other times there was no sounds, and you can see the audience was yelling something. So one of the major factors to ECW's success was cut out of the picture, edited audience interaction.
Then on top of that, it was like Raw Lite, or Smackdown's twin. Crap this is no different than Heat or Velocity except it has a brand name now on it. It was not the edgy ECW, in fact, it had no edge (well in mood not pro wrestlers).
Titles... okay it is a new brand with only 1 belt? Tag Team? TV title? I mean come on, we need a bit more than RVD for a new brand. At least they could have mentioned something along the lines of how they will crown the new champs.
Venue.. ECW in 16,000 areas every week? It'll NEVER work. ECW is about the smaller scale things.. they need to do places like Memorial Auditorium, not Arco Arena.
Music.... WWE created themes... nuff said
Scripts & Stories.... again not needed but there now. Interesting to see someone like Balls Mahoney giving a WWE style promo in the near future.
Oh well... I hope WWE can see the errors with that 1st show, and fix them soon. Of course, they didn't sign a large deal with Sci Fi... it is only like a 13 show agreement at this point (12 left).
What did everyone else think? How do you all think ECW can work with the WWE banner over it? Should Smackdown become WCW? Is NWA-TNA going under, and will seel off to Vince? Is Diet Dr. Pepper more like regular Dr. Pepper?
