Tonight was Summerslam 2005.
I got one question....... When did the WWE's writers start thinking they were Shakespeare? Aside from a few high points, I felt that tonights Summerslam was pathetic.
Look at the results...
match 1. Chris Benoit vs. Orlando Jordan - While putting the U.S. title on a credible talent such as Benoit is a step up for the WWE, having the match be only 30 seconds or so long is a joke. Benoit didn't get a chance to shwcase his talents and Orlando, who I feel sucks, should've been at least able to prove he belonged in the ring with Benoit... Or at least tried to.
I never finished as half my post got deleted...]
match 2... Matt Hardy vs. Edge. Was this punishment for Matt like some claim? Has it been a work all along? I dunno for sure. I was extremly dissapointed with this match. This match had more hype than any other match with the exception of HBK/Hogan. Then they delivered this? Crap. Both guys know each other well and could've done better even if they just brawled. If they wanted to make Edge look cheap over Matt they could've had him use the briefcase or Lita for interference.
match 3... Rey Mysterio vs. Eddie Guerrero. One of the better matches, if not the best of the night. Eddie is at the top of his game right now and Rey is solid too. I actually love this angle because it is refreshing as well as seeing Eddies antics. Eddie should've given his wife the 3 amigoes for interfering in his match. Maybe he will still. I could watch these 2 for the rest of the year and not get bored. Book them thru the Survivor series in Novemeber.
match 4....Kurt Angle vs. Eugene. Seen better from both. Especially Angle. Nothing special/
match 5... Undertaker vs. Randy Orton. Undertaker proved why hes a legend. Put Orton over in a believeable angle. Having Cowboy Bob Orton come down as the old man in the ring even fooled me at first.
Good outcome. One more between these 2 should be in store. Probably a casket match at the next SD ppv in OCT or at Survivor series.
match 6... Chris Jericho vs. John Cena. I am a big fan of Jericho and think Cena is a little overrated. I can understand keepng the title on Cena especially with Jericho taking time off. I hate Cena's FU as a finisher.
match 7... JBL vs. Batista. Good for a Brawl. I was hoping HHH would come down and join SD to challenge Batista or Lesnar would interfere. neither happened. Still solid for what it was.
match 8... HBK vs. Hogan. Icon vs. Legend. The most hyped up match to date FAILED miserably in my opinion. Neither of them were anywhere near what they have done....even recently. This match proved that both are past their primes. I wanted to like this match but I couldn't.
All in all I was disapointed in this ppv. This wasn't the worst Summerslam of all time but it was a stinker.
