Well, on my stupid web site(URL listed later), I talk about the homicidal holidays.
Pretty straight-forward. Christmas is the double-homicide as millions of trees and turkeys are killed for the event. Get the drift?
July 4th is a "pure" holiday, fueled often by alcohol and those lower on the homosapien food chain. As our given right as Americans, we demand the right to blow crap up, and so it is, July 4. We're getting a head start this year, already with news stories about apartments and houses getting the torch. Close to me, there were 3 field fires within a short period of time. One I think was sparked by heavy equipment moving on and off the truck, some metal clinking and there ya go. I saw the emergency vehicles there, putting out the leading edge away from the houses. Burned some fencing, but appeared nobody hurt. Of the other two field fires, both were close together, so I suspect arson or vehicle malfunction. No damage I could see on one, the other, thank goodness, wandered its way to a brick wall. Must have been some nervous home owners.
I'm not a big fan of the consumer fireworks. OK, I hate them. However, I like the big professional shows, that's cool. To me anyways.
So, it's 9:30 and many neighbors are blowing up stuff and my dogs are going nutso from the sounds. Ah, one day a year, yes, I can forgo things like sleep for one day. That must be why Monday is a day off for the most part this year. I have to work on Monday, but hey, that's cool. I don't need to get to work untul 11:45 at night, so I can catch a nap. Customer with rigid timelines and narrow opportunity windows, but it's OK, it's always fun.
Enjoy the holiday. We've earned it!
