Michael Porter's WrestleBeat (3-22-05)
Hey Wrestling Fans! Welcome to another edition of WrestleBeat! I've got some more news and notes from the World of Professional Wrestling, including a couple of unfortunate Superstars involved in automobile accidents! So, let's get down to business.
First off, the next tapings for WrestleShoot TV will take place on Sunday April 10th at the UWA Academy of Professional Wrestling, which is located within the combines of the La Sierra Community Center 5325 Engle Rd. in Carmichael, CA.
Taping will begin at 3:00pm and seating is, as usual, ABSOLUTELY FREE, and is available on a first come-first served basis.
YOU can be there LIVE and In-Person for WrestleShoot TV, and can join my co-host, Wildthing Rob Wilds and me, Michael Porter, as we call all the action, as we WILL be having our usual compliment of UWA match-ups! And of course, don't forget that you are cordially invited to bring your cameras to take pictures of ALL the action!
Appearing at this taping will be the UWA Tag Team Champions, Rage & Steel (Full Metal Jacket), the reigning UWA Hardcore Champion, Chris "Psycho" Ward", the UWA Cruiserweight Champion, Rik Luxury, the UWA Academy Champion, Vega, and others.
For directions to the La Sierra Community Center, you can log on to www.mapquest.com , then enter YOUR location address, and then the address: 5325 Engle Rd. Carmichael, CA., wait a couple of moments, and you'll receive step-by-step directions to the Community Center.
For more information go to www.UnitedWrestlingAlliance.com !
Remember...that's the next WrestleShoot TV tapings, on Sunday April 10th, at the UWA Academy of Professional Wrestling, located within the La Sierra Community Center 5325 Engle Rd. in Carmichael. BE THERE!
Next up, the UWA is returning to the Fat Cat Music House and Lounge in Modesto, CA. on Tuesday May the 10th, for another SPECIAL Bar Show!
In the Main Event of the Evening, for the UWA Heavyweight Championship, the Champion, the MASSIVE Native American Warpath will put his Title on the line against the 420 lb. MONSTER, Pogo.
This match-up, which pits two of the biggest and stiffest competitors on the INDY Wrestling circuit, came about DIRECTLY as a result of Pogo's interference at the end of the Warpath Title defense against PWI Superstar, Mike Modest at the Fat Cat back on March the 3rd. Subsequently, Warpath returned the favor and cost Pogo the Fat Cat Cup Battle Royal, aiding Midget Wrestler, Short Sleeve Sampson in throwing Pogo over the top rope, enabling Sampson to win the Battle Royal!
In following the March 3rd escapades, NEW UWA Commissioner, Wildthing Rob Wilds deemed it appropiate that Warpath would face Pogo at the next event to be held at The Fat Cat, and that Warpath's Heavyweight Belt would be on the line.
Also, in a re-match for the UWA Tag Team Championship, the NEW Champions, Modesto's own, Rage and Steel (Full Metal Jacket) will once again face the former Champions, Super Dave and Ridiculous Mike Rayne (Super-Diculous) in a TLC (Tables, Laddres, and Chairs) Match!
This should be AWESOME, especially after witnessing their prior match-up at Fat Cat's!
More matches will be added in the coming weeks.
Fat Cat Music House and Lounge is located at 930 11th Street Modesto, CA.
For more information on Fat Cat Modesto, go to www.FatCatModesto.com or give them a call at (209) 524-1400.
Tickets are just $15.00!
The doors open at 6:00pm and the show starts at 7:00pm.
***Due to venue restrictions, you must be 21 years of age or older to attend.***
(card subject to change)
And now, on to the national news.
After his performances on last Monday's RAW, teaming with Shawn Michaels, AND on last Tuesday's SMACKDOWN taping against Kurt Angle, the WWE has signed my old friend, Marty Jannetty to a contract! My CONGRATULATIONS goes out to Marty!
Thanks to Ryan Clark for the following:
Now that Marty Jannetty has OFFICIALLY signed with WWE, it appears that he WILL be working with Shawn Michaels on house shows following WrestleMania. The two will once again team to form The Rockers!
The Shane Twins are expected to debut on RAW following WrestleMania. There are also plans for Garrison Cade to be brought over to SmackDown!. Frankie Kazarian may also be called up to the main roster, presumably SmackDown.
There is talk that Road Warrior Animal may be up for a job with WWE as an announcer. It is expected that he will get a tryout in the coming weeks for the position.
Sylvester Stallone will induct Hulk Hogan into WWE Hall of Fame on the eve of WrestleMania 21. The Universal Amphitheatre in Los Angeles will be the site of the induction ceremony. The WWE Hall of Fame Induction is an official WrestleMania Week Event in Southern California; a capacity crowd from 14 countries and 48 states will be attending WrestleMania 21 on Sunday, April 3, at STAPLES Center in Los Angeles. Although tickets for WrestleMania 21 are no longer available, seats for the WWE Hall of Fame induction are available at Ticketmaster.com or by calling Ticketmaster at 213-480-3232. Portions of the WWE Hall of Fame Induction can be seen on Spike TV on Saturday, April 2, at 11 p.m. (ET).
The plan right now is for Steve Austin to return to WWE on a part-time basis after WrestleMania 21. He'll work on his movie projects and will make sporadic appearances on RAW in the months following WrestleMania.
It is probable that Austin will wrestle this year. The leading candidate to be his opponent is Muhammad Hassan. As it stands right now, look for a Hassan run-in at WrestleMania 21, possibly during the Piper's pit with Austin to set this up.
Ted DiBiase will be working on a three month trail run with WWE as both a road agent and a creative consultant.
Despite being asked to be involved in the 6/12 ECW PPV, there are no plans for Paul Heyman to return as a writer or as an on-air talent.
Johnny Swinger is booked for Raw and Smackdown tapings this week.
Hardcore Legend, Terry Funk’s autobiography “More than Just Hardcore” was released last Friday.
Thanks to Mark Green for this item:
Late Saturday night (3-19) WWE SmackDown Superstar Shannon Moore was involved in a head-on collision with a fairly high ranking sergeant in the US Army near Fort Bragg. A resident of Whispering Pines, NC, Moore was returning home from meeting with friends from the WWE RAW roster following their show at the Crown Coliseum in Fayetteville, NC. Moore was driving his Hummer and was hit head-on by the soldier, who was arrested for drunken driving. Moore was being followed home by fellow WWE Superstar Matt Hardy, who lives nearby. Hardy had been in the lead, but Moore had passed him when the accident happened. Had Hardy been hit instead of Moore, he would probably have been killed as he was driving a Corvette. Moore is injured, and it is unknown how long it will be before he is able to return to competition at WWE.
From Joey Styles comes the following two pieces:
First, on 3-21-05:
Page Six, the infamous celebrity gossip column in the must read, New York Post includes the following today:
CAREER NO. 2...
WRESTLER Stone Cold Steve Austin is following his pal The Rock to Hollywood. Austin scored a small part in Adam Sandler's upcoming remake of "The Longest Yard," and is also prepping for his debut as an above-the-title action star in "The Condemned" - the first of three movies he'll do for WWE Films.
Then on 3-22-05, comes this:
Luna Vachon was involved in an automobile accident on March 18 while traveling to an independent show in Beaver Falls PA according to Mike Aldren in a report for The Wrestling 365 Newsletter.
According to the report, Vachon suffered a severe laceration to her arm and was still hospitalized yesterday (3-21).
Well, that does it for another edition of WrestleBeat. I'll be back next time with more news and notes from the Wonderful World of Professional Wrestling.
So, until next time, KEEP BOTH FEET ON THE MAT AND YOUR PUNCHES ABOVE THE BELT! Later, Michael.
