Michael Porter's WrestleBeat (11-5-04)
Hey Wrestling Fans! I'm back with another edition of WrestleBeat, with more news and notes from around the World of Professional Wrestling.
Alright, we are just ONE WEEK away, as on Saturday night November 13th, the UWA returns to the La Sierra Community Center, 5325 Engle Road in Carmichael, CA.!
In the Main Event of the evening, the UWA Heavyweight Champion, the MASSIVE Native American, Warpath will be putting his Title on the line against the challenge of PWI (Pro Wrestling Iron) Fighter, Vinny Massaro. This should be one hell of a UWA Heavyweight Title match-up!
In a Special Attraction Match, you will see “The Mighty Midgets” in action, as Short Sleeve Sampson meets Terrible Todd Stone. This will be a match that the WHOLE family...especially the KIDS, will enjoy!
Ridiculous Mike Rayne will defend his UWA Cruiserweight Championship against The UWA Kid.
In a Loser Leaves UWA Match, yours truely, Michael Porter will be facing Manager of Champions, Ric Michaels. With BOTH of our UWA contracts up and ONLY one of us getting a contract renewal, the UWA was trying to come up with a way to decide which of us would remain with the UWA. Well...the UWA Fans helped with the decision..."Why not have a match between Michael Porter and Ric Micheals? Then, the winner STAYS, and the loser GOES!". The fans wanted it...and, the fans will get it! And so, the winner of this match-up will receive a NEW UWA contract, while the loser will say FAREWELL to the UWA!
In other matches...BTW (Big Time Wrestling) sends Hop-Sing Lee to compete against Kid Kool.
And, France's Most Cunning Athlete, BTW's L' Empereur will be meeting Vince Vicallo. Vicallo is from the Boston, MA. area and has wrestled on WWE Velocity and WWE Heat a few times.
And, more matches will be added.
And, since I am wrestling on Nov.13th, UWA is STILL in negotiations with BTW to send their Ring Announcer, none other than Allan Bolte to announce this BIG UWA Event! It will be GREAT seeing Allan Bolte again...if he IS signed for Nov.13th! The last time I saw him was back in 1992, backstage at the World Famous Cow Palace in San Francisco, at a WWF TV taping. I've known Allan since about 1970 or 1971.

And now...on to the news!
WOW! It has been quite a week for WWE Superstars either being released or being fired outright!
Right now, as I write this, a TOTAL of TEN WWE Talents are now GONE. Those ten are: 1-Matt "A-Train" Bloom, 2-Andrew "Test" Martin, 3-Billy Gunn (Monty Sopp), 4-Gail Kim, 5-Chuck Palumbo, 6-Nidia, 7-Johnny Stamboli, 8-Rodney Mack and his real-life wife, 9-Jazz, and 10-Rico. And, as I understand, TWO more Superstars have been let go. THOSE names haven't been made public yet.
Bloom had been out with an injury and there were no plans to use him on his return. Test had at least nine months left before he could return to action after neck surgery. And Gunn had lost his spot after undergoing drug rehab.
As for Nidia and Gail Kim, it is even more of a shock considering the fact that they have been somewhat regulars on Raw for awhile.
This next bit of news comes as a shock to me personally, knowing Jake the Snake Roberts! It's from Joey Styles and 1wrestling.com :

Wrestler Guilty of Mistreating Show Snake
By Brian Farmer, PA News
A professional wrestler was today convicted of mistreating a 12ft snake which he used as part of his act.
Jake “the Snake” Roberts, 48, who was born near Dallas, Texas, but lives in London Colney, Herts, faces a fine or community punishment as a result of causing unnecessary suffering to the male Burmese python.
Magistrates in St Albans, Herts convicted Roberts - once a star of the World Wrestling Federation circuit - of causing unnecessary cruelty to the python between August and September 2003.
Roberts, whose real name is Aurelian Smith Jnr, did not attend the three-day trial and was convicted in his absence.
Magistrates issued a warrant ordering the 6ft 6in wrestler to return to court at a date to be fixed to be sentenced.
The RSPCA, which brought the prosecution, said the snake had not been fed for several months, was suffering from mouth rot and was kept in an unsuitable tank in the garage of his home.
Magistrates were told Roberts waved the snake around before his wrestling bouts and threw it towards defeated opponents.
“We are satisfied that Mr Smith (Roberts) was responsible for the day-to-day care of the snake,” said magistrate’s chairman Mike Bamford.
“The snake was in a very poor condition.”
He added: “We are considering a community punishment sentence, fine and a ban on keeping reptiles.”
Magistrates were told by the RSPCA that the snake had died after being seized by RSPCA inspectors.
RSPCA officials said its remains would now be destroyed.
Roberts’ business partner Valerie Burnham, 59, who shared a house with Roberts in London Colney, was found not guilty of causing unnecessary suffering to the snake.
Snake dealer Kevin Wicks, 30, of Bracknell, Berkshire, who had given the snake to Roberts, was found not guilty of permitting unnecessary suffering to the python.
From 1wrestling.com comes this:
Bill Goldberg paid a visit to the Playboy Mansion last week, but according to a 1Wrestling.com source he was asked to leave after causing a disturbance.
Goldberg apparently found his way into an off limits area of the mansion and was approached by Playboy security staff and asked to leave. Our source tells us Goldberg was beligerent and confrontational and ended up being kicked out of the mansion by security staff.
And finally, I understand that due to the DEEP decline in recent House Show attendance, the WWE is considering booking into smaller venues. That could mean that instead of the larger venues in the larger cities, WWE could be in search of smaller halls, or maybe even in smaller cities, in which WWE has not performed since they booked small venues for fund-raising shows back in the late 80's and early 90's.
Well, that does it for another edition of WrestleBeat. I'll be back again next time with more news and notes from the Wonderful World of Professional Wrestling.
So until next time, KEEP BOTH FEET ON THE MAT AND YOUR PUNCHES ABOVE THE BELT. Later, Michael
