Michael Porter's WrestleBeat (6-11-05)
Hey there again, Wrestling Fans! And welcome to another edition of WrestleBeat. I've got a lot of news and notes from the World of Professional Wrestling. So, let's get right to business.
Now...one more time...the UWA is returning to the Fat Cat Music House and Lounge in Modesto, CA. THIS Tuesday June the 14th, for another SPECIAL Bar Show!
And once again, THANKS to Fat Cat'a and the UWA, admission is ABSOLUTELY FREE!
UWA Commissioner, Rob Wilds has announced that due to his failure to defend the UWA Heavyweight Championship within the required 60 day time period, he (Wilds) has no alternative but to strip the MASSIVE Native American Warpath of the Heavyweight Title.
Wilds also announces that on Tuesday night June 14th, there will be a Tournament held to crown a NEW UWA Heavyweight Champion! The Tournament will NOW pit 12 UWA Superstars to determine the NEW Champion. On June 14th, Round One of the Tournament takes place with 6 matches. The individuals named so far include Modesto's own, UWA Tag Team Champions, Rage and Steel (Full Metal Jacket), NEW UWA Hardcore Champion, Ridiculous Mike Rayne, Chris "Psycho" Ward, Big Ugly J.D. Bishop, The Innovator Vinnie Massaro, Kered the Klown, D-Unit and D.J. Rizz (The Suburban Commandos), Rik Luxury, and the BIZARRE Otis. One participant remains, yet to be named.
.
Round Two will take place with three more matches, pitting the winners of Round One, when the UWA returns to Fat Cat's on Tuesday July 12th.
There will also be a match for the BRAWL Championship with current BRAWL Champion, Big Ugly J.D. Bishop putting his Title on the line against former Champion, Pogo the Clown.
Another match will be the monthly Fat Cat Cup Battle Royal.
And, Ric Micheals will face Conquistador # 2.
Also scheduled to appear on June 14th will be the UWA Cruiserweight Champion, Vega, the UWA Woman's Champion, Sexie Lexie, the UWA 2005 Rookie of the year, Ric Micheals, SPW (Supreme Pro Wrestling) Superstars, Sir Samurai and Bonzai Bruce Bukakke, and more.
THIS JUST IN:
I don't know the details yet, but I've been told that there will be a MAJOR surprise (?) for one of the UWA Superstars on June 14th! If I hear anymore on it, I WILL post a follow-up. But, suffice it to say that "IT" could be hitting the fan!

And now, on to the national news:
Thanks to Ryan Clark for the following:
Partial Source: PWinsider
Joey Styles sent out the following today to readers of his website, 1Wrestling.com: "As I am sure you have heard by now, I will indeed be calling play-by-play for ECW One Night Stand this Sunday live on pay-per-view. My work with WWE will in no way interfere with my ownership and management of 1wrestling."
A WWE employee called up the fans who purchased $400 ringside seats to ECW's One Night Stand yesterday and invited them to a autograph session at the Hammerstein Ballroom the afternoon of the PPV. This is only open to ringside fans.
As it stands right now, New Jack will not be at ECW One Night Stand. There is an ongoing legal dispute that he is involved in and has known about it for quite some time. At last check, he had been trying to get it squared away but it still doesn't appear he'll be on the PPV. It does, however, make for a big 'debut' of sorts during the next ECW show as it looks like they will be moving forward with the brand after this PPV.
The Godfather is the manager of 'Cheeta's", a strip club in Las Vegas. In a recent interview, he said he doesn't watch wrestling anymore and still keeps in touch with Shane McMahon and The Undertaker.

As far as things go with Mick Foley right now, he is still only rumored for the upcoming ECW "One Night Stand" pay-per view. Originally, the plan was for Foley and Joey Styles to do the announcing for the show, but it is being reported now that it will be Styles and Tazz doing that. If Foley does come in to do commentary, many expect the current "Mick Foley" of today, and not the "Cactus Jack" that performed in ECW. Some had hoped for Foley to cut one of his dark promos that was really a big part of his little run with the company originally. No word on if that is still a working plan or not.
JT Smith, Tony Mamaluke, and Tracy Smothers were all apparently contacted by WWE to work the ECW PPV, but none are currently on the list of talent scheduled for the show, for whatever reason. Tracy Smothers mentions the date of the show on his website, so it would appear that the real FBI (Full Blooded Italians) will be at hand during the show in some form. The most likely scenerio would be for some of FBI guys to help Little Guido (aka Nunzio) in his triple-threat match scheduled for the PPV against Tajiri and Super Crazy.
Here is a current list of talent who worked and had a pretty big role in ECW, but isn't scheduled for the PPV: Terry Funk, Shane Douglas, Raven, Jerry Lynn, New Jack, Steve Corino, Mike Awesome, 2 Cold Scorpio, Francine, Beulah, Bam Bam Bigelow, The Eliminators (Saturn/Kronus), Ian Rotten, Miss Congeniality (Lita), Dean Malenko, Joey Mathews (Mercury), Steve Austin, Johnny Swinger, Jason, Tod Gordon, Chris Chetti, Mustafa, Johnny Grunge, Pitbull, Big Sal E., Tommy Rich, Tommy Rogers, Jack Victory, Brian Lee, Juventud Guerrera, Big Vito, Doug Furnas, Phil LaFon, Hack Myers.
The ECW "One Night Stand" pay-per view is live this Sunday, with a few matches still left unannounced. It is expected that about two or three more matches will be added before the card is finalized.
Paul Heyman and Tommy Dreamer announced on the ECW edition of "Byte This!" that Rob Van Dam would make his PPV return at "One Night Stand" this Sunday night. The two also ensured fans it would be the "ECW RVD" showing up Sunday night, and not the "WWE RVD." In addition to that, Heyman and Dreamer said RVD would be cutting about a six minute shoot-style promo that they promised would shock a lot of people, and raise a lot of eyebrows.
The two also promised many other surprise appearances and matches. They said they might not be officially announced before the PPV, as many original ECW shows would do. Many knew that there would be more than the five matches they announced. That is no shock. They did stress several times to expect the unexpected on Sunday, in more ways than one. They did a great job of making listeners believe that the show this Sunday is really going to be something you can't miss.
From PWTorch.com:
WWE SmackDown! superstar Charlie Haas will be getting married to WWE Diva and Tough Enough winner Jackie Gayda this weekend. There are a lot of current WWE co-workers who will be attending the ceremony this weekend.
From WrestlingObserver.com comes this ECW PPV update:
It was reported in Japan on Wednesday, so we can confirm that Masato Tanaka vs. Mike Awesome will be another match on Sunday's ECW PPV show. That goes along with Chris Jericho vs. Lance Storm, Little Guido vs. Super Crazy vs. Tajiri, Rey Mysterio vs. Psychosis, Chris Benoit vs. Eddie Guerrero and the weapons bloodbath and a million cameos and broken tables match with Tommy Dreamer & Sandman vs. The Dudleys.
Following the HUGE success of WrestleReunion back in January from Tampa, Florida, it has been announced that WrestleReunion 2 will take place on the weekend of August 26, 27 and 28 at The Valley Forge Convention Plaza, 1200 First Ave. in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania!
