Michael Porter's WrestleBeat (9-22-05)
Hey there again, Wrestling Fans! And welcome to another edition of WrestleBeat. I've got a lot of news and notes from the World of Professional Wrestling. So, let's get right to business.
First up...here is a short update from Earthquake John Tenta:
"Starting Monday I will be going to the hospital daily M-F for two weeks to receive radiation. I won't have time to "play" at my regular time, but will still be around a lot.
'Quake"
I KNOW that you ALL will continue to send your Prayers and Well-Wishes out to EARTHQUAKE JOHN TENTA!
Alright...once again I returned on Thursday morning at about 8:10am to Country 103.1 KKCY Marysville/Yuba City, CA. for another edition of Michael Porter's WrestleShoot on the Dave Logasa in the Morning show.
I started out by wishing Dave's side-kick, Briggs Moor a HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
I then got to my reporting by mentioning that my good friend from my WWF days, Earthquake John Tenta had started receiving radiation treatments for another cancerous tumor in the same hip area where his original cancerous tumor had developed. I wished the BIG 'Quake my BEST WISHES!
Next up, I updated the Sean Waltman (X-Pac, Syxx-Pac) situation, where Waltman no-showed the TNA PPV. Sead DID appear at a family member's house one week later, with NO explaination as to his whereabouts for the week that he was missing.
I then talked about last Sunday's WWE Unforgiven PPV match between Matt Hardy and Edge, in which Hardy was victorious by leaping of the top of the 15-foot high steele cage with an unbelievable leg-drop onto the prone body of Edge for the 1-2-3. It WAS one of the MOST spectacular moves that I have ever seen!
I finished this week's report with an update on the Oct. 3rd RAW return to the USA Network for what is NOW being billed as "The WWE Homecoming", with a list of some of the Legends who will be appearing on RAW that night: "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan, "The Mouth of the South" Jimmy Hart, Superstar Billy Graham, The Iron Sheik, Hillbilly Jim, "Rowdy" Roddy Piper, the Fabulous Moolah, Mae Young, Harley Race, "Superfly" Jimmy Snuka, Chief Jay Strongbow, Gerg "the Hammer" Valentine, Nikolai Volkoff, and Koko B. Ware.
I again wished Briggs Moor a Happy Birthday, and that was it for this week's edition of WrestleShoot.
I will return again next Thursday at 8:10am, along with Dave Logasa and Briggs Moor, on Country 103.1 KKCY Marysville/Yuba City.

There is a story in the Winchester Star about Alana Leslie, the daughter of the former Brutus Beefcake, a third grader who raised $562 for both the Humane Society and the Red Cross stemming from the tragedy and aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Hulk Hogan, who she considers her uncle and godfather, told her whatever she'd raise, he'd equal. Story is at www.2townonline.com/winchester/localRegional/view.bg?articleid=325327
On Sunday Night's WWE UNFORGIVEN PPV, in the Steele Cage Match between Matt Hardy and Edge, Hardy won the match when he came off the TOP of the 15 foot high cage, with a leg-drop on the VERY BLOODY Edge for the 1-2-3! It was one of the MOST spectacular moves I've ever seen!
Ryan Clark reports this:
Matt Hardy was noticeably wincing in pain backstage at Unforgiven on Sunday Night after the leg drop from the top of the cage. He is OK though and is only suffering aches and pains.
Former WCW World Heavyweight champion and current WWE Superstar, Booker T has donated $10,000 to the Hurricane Katrina relief efforts.
Tim Brown brings us this:

The Rock will be starring in a new movie titled “Southland Tales”, where he shares the screen with Mandy Moore, who plays his wife, and Sarah Michelle Gellar who plays his girlfriend.
There is another movie possibility for The Rock in the future, titled “Daddy’s Girl”, where The Rock would play an NFL superstar/playboy-turned father who inherits a baby. This movie will most likely be his next one after “Southland Tales”.
The Rock will be making his media rounds starting on October 11 to promote “Doom“, with Jay Leno, David Letterman, Conan O’Brien, Regis, and a few others. We’ll have more updates on where you can see The Rock on TV in the future.
This MAJOR story comes from Ryan Clark:
From WWE.com:
Monday Night RAW will be heading back home to the USA Network on Oct. 3. The historic three-hour RAW will start at 7:55 p.m. ET.
Many former WWE Champions will be making their return to RAW for "The WWE Homecoming" on Oct. 3, including Stone Cold Steve Austin, Hulk Hogan Mick Foley and the return of Triple H.
All of this is in addition to Mr. McMahon, WWE Champion John Cena, Shawn Michaels, Kurt Angle, Ric Flair and a host of WWE legends being a part of the historic, star-studded evening. Many legends already confirmed for Oct. 3 include:
"Hacksaw" Jim Duggan, Jimmy Hart, Hillbilly Jim, Superstar Billy Graham, The Iron Sheik, "Rowdy" Roddy Piper, Fabulous Moolah, Mae Young, Harley Race, Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka, Chief Jay Strongbow, Greg "The Hammer" Valentine, Nikolai Volkoff and Koko B. Ware.
RAW flourished during its seven-year run on USA network, establishing cable rating records as WWE fans flocked to the television each and every Monday night. And it’s happening all over again, so don’t miss RAW on Oct. 3 for this televised homecoming.
Also from WWE.com comes this:
Relive 10 years of RAW
WWE special to examine the show that changed sports-entertainment
“WWE RAW - Exposed,” an upcoming special to air on the USA Network, will examine even the most controversial topics of the past 10 years of RAW, including the bitter Monday Night Wars with WCW and the Attitude era of the 1990s, which produced some of the show’s most memorable moments.
“WWE RAW-Exposed” will air three times on USA Network in October, starting Oct. 2 at 10 p.m., one night before RAW makes its much-anticipated return to the USA Network.
The show can also be seen Oct. 3 at 11 p.m., immediately after that first RAW back on USA, and Oct. 7 at 10 p.m.
Monday Night RAW debuted in 1993, live from the Manhattan Center in New York City. Twelve years later, RAW celebrated the milestone of producing the most original episodes of any weekly fictional entertainment program in television history.
Some of the biggest names in WWE, past and present, will talk about their RAW experiences on “WWE RAW - Exposed” and how the show changed the face of sports-entertainment forever.
Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock, Mick Foley, Triple H, John Cena, Trish Stratus and many more will provide unforgettable commentary.
Daniel Elder reports this:

According to John Laurinaitis, Vice President of Talent Relations for World Wrestling Entertainment, Mark Copani, a.k.a. Muhammad Hassan, and WWE have decided to go their separate ways.
Copani, who was last seen at The Great American Bash in late-July, had nothing but positive remarks about his WWE experience in recent phone interview.
“I have a great appreciation for WWE and the way they treated me,” said Copani. “Everybody took care of me even more than they ever had to. I have a great deal of gratitude for the McMahons, the people in the office and the boys in the locker room. I have absolutely no grievances in the way that everything played out. In fact, the split was very amicable. I just thought that it was in my best interest, as well as WWE’s best interest, for us to go our separate ways.”
With WWE now in his past, Copani is heading to Hollywood to pursue a career in acting. But does that mean WWE fans will never see the former Muhammad Hassan in a wrestling ring again?
“Wrestling is in my back pocket for now,” admitted Copani. “Luckily, the door was left open for a return if that is what I wish to do in the future. And if that’s something I wish to do, I know who to call.”

THEY'RE COMING!! - FORMER "DUDLEY BOYZ" SIGN WITH TNA WRESTLING
To make debut on upcoming episode of "iMPACT!" on SpikeTV
Nashville, TN (September 22, 2005)--TNAwrestling.com has learned that the tag team, formerly known as "The Dudley Boyz," have signed a multi-year contract with TNA Wrestling.
One of the most successful tandems in wrestling history, the tag team is expected to make their debut on an upcoming episode of "iMPACT!" on SpikeTV.
"We see TNA as the future of wrestling," Devon told TNAwrestling.com. "They have a lot of amazing talent that are ready to step up and revolutionize this business. We thought we had done it all in tag team wrestling until we saw TNA Wrestling.
Now, we begin a new chapter in our careers. The NWA World Tag Team Titles are one prize we haven't held yet, so we're both really excited about joining TNA."
Bob Ryder reports on this on 1Wrestling.com:
Wade Keller reported tonight at PWTorch.com that Sean Waltman resurfaced tonight in Florida after being missing for the last week.
Waltman, according to Keller, showed up tonight (Sunday) at a family member's house in Florida a week after no-showing last Sunday's TNA pay-per-view.
Waltman left Tampa for last Sunday's PPV several after calling officials and saying he was on the way. He never arrived at the arena and hasn't been seen since. No explanation was given for his whereabouts.
Many friends of Sean have been worried all week long wondering if he was OK. As noted, he left his Grandmothers house last Sunday at around 6EST and said he was heading for the TNA arena. He never showed and did not contact any friends.
Well, that does it for another edition of WrestleBeat. I'll be back next time with more news and notes from the World of Professional Wrestling.
So, until next time, KEEP BOTH FEET ON THE MAT AND YOUR PUNCHES ABOVE THE BELT! Later, Michael.
