Michael Porter's WrestleBeat (10-6-05)
Hey there again, Wrestling Fans! And welcome to another edition of WrestleBeat. I've got a lot of news and notes from the World of Professional Wrestling. So, let's get right to business.
First up...here is an EARTHQUAKE WATCH update, in the man's own words:
"Hello everyone. I'm sorry for such a long absence. I'm doing pretty good right now. I have been going through radiation, and will receive my last treatment on Monday. I saw my doctor on Thursday, and he actually said he expected radiation to kill the small tumor in my hip area which showed up in June. He actually used the word "cure" as well so I have a lot of hope. The tumor in my lung as of the last scans is gone. Thank you for all your prayers, and keep them coming, as it is looking like God just may give me an extension after all! Well just wanted you all to know, I'm still here.
'Quake"
This is GREAT news from 'Quake! I know that we are ALL happy to here it!
I returned to Country 103.1 KKCY Marysville/Yuba City, CA. this (Thursday) morning on the Dave Logasa in the Morning show with my WrestleShoot Report.
I discussed the WWE Homecoming...in length, including all of the matches, the Legends and all of the hoopla of WWE's return to the USA Network.
I talked in paticular about the Shawn Michaels-Kurt Angle 30-minute Iron Match...it was a INCREDIBLE match!
Then there was Stone Cold Steve Austin "Stunning" Vince, Shane, Stephanie, and EVEN Linda...the ENTIRE McMahon family.
Also...I was AMAZED at seeing SO many of the Legends that I worked with in the past.
The Edge-Matt Hardy Money in the Bank Loser Leaves Raw Ladder Match was a BRUTAL, but TERIFFIC match-up.
Then there was the Triple H "turn" on and beat-down of Ric Flair, including BLASTING him in the head with the sledgehammer, busting The Nature Boy WIDE open!
I concluded my report talking about the UWA bringing Lisa Moretti (formerly WWE Woman's Champion Ivory to Toy Fusion on Sunday Oct. 2nd for a SPECIAL appearance. Scheduled from 12:00 Noon to 2:00pm, Ivory stayed until about 4:30pm, talking with the fans, posing for pictures, signing autographs, and doing a 10-minute College Radio interview that went at LEAST 30 minutes!
Ivory is a REAL LADY and a TERIFFIC PERSON!
I will return again next Thursday at either 8:10am or 8:15am with another edition of Michael Porter's WrestleShoot.
For more information on KKCY, go to www.kkcy.com .
It was the UWA (United Wrestling Alliance) and Toy Fusion Presenting Lisa Moretti, the wrestler formerly known as IVORY...former WWE Woman's Champion and WWE Tough Enough Trainer...LIVE and In-Person at Toy Fusion (formerly Toy Alley) 1908 El Camino Ave. in Sacramento, CA on Sunday Oct. 2nd, for a Meet and Greet, Autograph Signing and Photo Session.
Now...I would like to say, here and now, that Ivory was one of the most personable, most gracious, and one of the friendliest persons that I have seen in a LOOONG while!
Whereas many TOP "names" will rush through the motions during these signings, Ivory took the time to address EACH and EVERY person who showed up to meet her, purchase photos for her to autograph, or paid to have their Poloroid picture taken with her! She answered ANY questions that were asked of her. She signed photos of her from past WWE Magazines. Hell...on two ocassions, she even recorded personal, out-going messages on people's cell phone voice mail machines when asked. And as well, she would speak with friends and family members of fans who were there in attendance at Toy Fusion...even though these friends and family members were unable to make the signing! And Ivory just chatted away with EVERYONE who was there!
Lisa Moretti (Ivory) is a CLASS ACT!
Ivory was set to do a 10-minute interview with local College DJ, Matt McGee for his Internet Radio show. This interview, instead lasted a good 30 minutes or more and covered the spectrum of her career...from the beginnings at GLOW (Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling) to POWW and LPWA, right up to her time with WWE and NOW...the present, as well as taking questions from those who remained well after the signing! Ivory is currently working the INDY circuit all over the United States and the world.
And while Ivory was about 15-20 minutes late in arriving at Toy Fusion, probably due to traffic...she stayed past the 2:00pm cut-off time. In fact, it was NEARLY 4:30pm when Lisa finally drove off!
A GREAT time was had by all who were in attendance! If YOU missed it...SHAME on you! You missed having a GREAT time meeting and talking with a GREAT LADY!
We...at the UWA would like to THANK Toy Fusion for having us there for this SPECIAL ocassion. Toy Fusion is located once again, at 1908 El Camino Ave. in Sacramento. Go in and check them out. They have some GREAT collectable toys and comics. You can also give them a call at (916) 565-2546. Or you can visit them on the web at www.ToyFusion.com .
And OF COURSE, we would like to THANK Ivory! She went above and beyond, staying as LOOONG as she did! You are BEAUTIFUL, Ivory!

And now...on to the national news:
WWE Homecoming on Oct.3rd was an AWESOME 3 hour and 15 minute EVENT as WWE and RAW returned to the USA Network.
The Shawn Michaels-Kurt Angle 30-minute Iron Man Match was an INCREDIBLE match-up which ended in a draw with both men having 2 falls apiece.
Stone Cold Steve Austin "stunning" Vince, Shane, Stephanie AND Linda was a "highlight" of the show.
Seeing ALL of those Legends was an AMAZING sight! It was GREAT seeing so many of the Superstars tha I worked with in the old WWF...Rowdy Roddy Piper, Superfly Jimmy Snuka, Hacksaw Jim Duggan, The Million Dollar Man Ted DiBiase, Nikolai Volkoff, Harley Race, Ricky the Dragon Steamboat, Pat Patterson, The Birdman Koko B. Ware (with a STUFFED Frankie), The American Dream Dusty Rhodes, Hillbilly Jim, Tony Garea, Sgt. Slaughter, Chief Jay Strongbow, The Mouth of the South Jimmy Hart, Arn Anderson, Greg the Hammer Valentine, Superstar Billy Graham, The Fabulous Moolah, The Fink Howard Finkle and OF COURSE Hulk Hogan! Actually...I did NOT work with Superstar Graham in WWF, but DID back in the early-70's here in Northern California for Promoters Roy Shires and Louie Miller.
Then there were the Legends that I NEVER got to work with...Mae Young, Mick Foley, Dr. Death Steve Williams, Dean Malenko and Kerry Von Erich.
It was a sight to see, watching the Legends DESTROYING Rob Comway!
The Edge-Matt Hardy Money in the Bank Loser Leaves RAW Ladder Match was a BRUTAL match with Hardy losing...PROBABLY to move on to SMACKDOWN.
And the Triple H turn-on and beatdown of Ric Flair following their victory over Carlito and Chris Masters, was NASTY, with HHH blasting The Nature Boy with the sledgehammer, busting Flair wide open!
But what I REALLY enjoyed was the RAW vs SMACKDOWN free-for-all that closed WWE Homecoming!
The St Petersburg Times has a story online about a serious motorcycle accident involving former ECW World Champion Scott "Bam Bam" Bigelow. The accident took place late Sunday afternoon. Bigelow is in a local hospital in the Critical Care Unit recovering from his injuries. However, he is expected to recover. A female passenger though, who was riding with Bigelow is in critical condition. Neither were wearing helmets.
Plus, it is being reported that IF the female passenger DOES die, Bam Bam could be charged with Vehicular Homicide
Ryan Clark reports this:
You may have noticed Jimmy Hart ringside at Raw this week. Hart appeared per WWE's request (although he was managing the TNA tag team champions, The Naturals).
Hart was told by Dixie Carter that if he appeared on Raw this week, he would be done with TNA. Hart decided not to upset WWE since the company is coming out with a new action figure of the hall of fame manager, and he was never under contract to TNA.
According to the latest edition of Star Magazine, WWE SMACKDOWN Diva Stacy Keibler has found herself stuck in the middle of a torrid love triangle.
The other two involved...actor, Geoffrey Stults and his fellow cast mate in the upcoming movie The Break Up, former Friends co-star, Jennifer Aniston.
It is rumored that former WWE Superstar Tough Enough Champion Maven is dating Luna Vachon.
Joanie Laurer (formerly WWE's Chyna) has started work on a new movie, "National Lampoon's The Last Guy on Earth."
From WrestlingObserver.com comes this:
Rowdy Roddy Piper vs. Cowboy Bob Orton has been added to Survivor Series (not No Mercy). And in an INTERESTING match-up, a RAW vs. SMACKDOWN match is tentatively scheduled JBL & Chris Benoit & Rey Mysterio & Ken Kennedy & Christian vs. Shawn Michaels & Big Show & Carlito & Chris Masters & Shelton Benjamin, with heels and faces on each side!
The Rock's new movie, "Doom" which opens in a few weeks here, has a December 2nd release date in the U.K.
Well, that does it for another edition of WrestleBeat. I'll be back next time with more news and notes from the World of Professional Wrestling.
So, until next time, KEEP BOTH FEET ON THE MAT AND YOUR PUNCHES ABOVE THE BELT! Later, Michael.
