SPECIAL REPORT...NEWS FLASH...THE RETURN OF WRESTLESHOOT!
By Michael Porter (12-9-04)
IT'S OFFICIAL...WrestleShoot is Returning!
On Sunday December 19th, production begins on WrestleShoot TV!
That's right...WrestleShoot is returning...but THIS TIME, WrestleShoot is returning to TELEVISION!
Michael Porter, Wildthing Rob Wilds, and the United Wrestling Alliance (UWA), will be bringing WrestleShoot TV to Cable-Access Television, with TV Tapings taking place every two weeks at the UWA Academy of Professional Wrestling, which is located at the La Sierra Community Center 5325 Engle Road in Carmichael, California. The first TV Tapings will take place on Sunday December 19th at 3:00pm and the public IS invited to join in as the studio audience. And the admission is absolutely FREE! WrestleShoot will tape TWO weeks worth of shows per taping. Each show will be one hour long!
That's right...you are ALL invited to join Wildthing Rob Wilds and me, Michael Porter, beginning December 19th and EVERY two weeks thereafter for WrestleShoot TV! And who knows just who might show up as a SPECIAL guest in the very near future!
WrestleShoot TV will initially be on the Cable-Access Channel in Sacramento, California, but hopefully will expand to the Marysville/Yuba City area Cable-Access Channel! From there...WHO KNOWS! As soon as the WrestleShoot TV air dates are determined, I WILL let you know!
Originally on radio, WrestleShoot was the brain-child of Michael Porter, and was heard LIVE on AM-1410 KMYC Marysville/Yuba City, California.
Porter was the host of a 1 HOUR radio program called LAW Body Slam, on KMYC. Then the LAW powers that be, decided that he had brought the LAW radio show enough attention, due to the notoriety of his employment with the then WWF (now the WWE). And they decided to dump him, unceremoniously...via a telephone call!
This preturbed the owner and management of KMYC, who then gave Porter his own 2 HOUR time slot, to develope and produce HIS own radio show, which he dubbed Michael Porter's WrestleShoot, with his then co-host Double R Rick Rockwell.
WrestleShoot was becoming a widely listened-to program, when Porter decided to add another co-host, to add an even wider range of wrestling knowledge. He did this by bringing in UWA Owner and Booker, the UWA Hardcore Champion, Wildthing Rob Wilds.
Together Porter, Rockwell, and Wilds became known as the WILDEST Triple-Threat Combination on radio. WrestleShoot becan receiving a large number of telephone calls, with questions on all aspects of Professional Wrestling.
We (Wilds, Rockwell, and myself) would provide News and Notes from around the World of Professional Wrestling...from WWF/E, WCW, and TNA to the Northern California INDY Wrestling scene
And in addition, we started receiving calls from a number of BIG NAME Wrestling Superstars, including former WWF Women's Champion Sensational Sherri Martel, former WWF Tag Team Champion The Tonga Kid, and others.
Then, as WrestleShoot grew in popularity, Porter was given an additional hour of programming time, bringing WrestleShoot LIVE into homes every Saturday for THREE hours, from 1-4pm.
Eventually, Double R Rick Rockwell, due to personal issues, was forced to step down as co-host of WrestleShoot, leaving Porter and Wilds to handle the duties alone.
Porter and Wilds decided to add some music to the WrestleShoot format. Porter, with his Country and Country-Rock favorites, and Wilds, with his favorite Rock-N-Roll tunes. This added to the popularity of WrestleShoot.
Then, WrestleShoot began to receive even MORE call-ins from MAJOR Superstars of Professional Wrestling, including WWF/E Hall of Famers, Superfly Jimmy Snuka, George "the Animal" Steele, Stro, (formerly WCW's The Maestro), WCW and ECW's Big Vito, GLOW Superstars Lightning Cheryl Rusa and Hollywood.
WrestleShoot also received call-ins former WWWF Superstar and former AWA World Heavyweight Champion and WCW Nitro Color Commentator, The Living Legend Larry Zbyszko, All Pro Wrestling (APW) Owner, Roland Alexander, TNA Superstar, former TNA Tag Team Champion Wildcat Chris Harris, Pro Championship Wrestling (PCW) Owner and Superstar, Mr. Primetime Zack Reeb, Hardcore Wrestling Alliance (HWA) Owner and Superstar, Juggalo Jim Cooley, current UWA Heavyweight Champion, the MASSIVE Native American Warpath...and MANY, MANY more!
WrestleShoot would receive as many as 25-30 phone calls every week...from Superstars, to especially the MANY fans of WrestleShoot Radio.
Then, at the HEIGHT of WrestleShoot's popularity, Michael Porter grew EXTREMELY tired of the jealousy and back-stabbing of the bitter LAW Owners, and the KMYC station politics, and PULLED WrestleShoot off of KMYC!
LAW, now re-named LOW (how IRONIC), took over a ONE HOUR time-slot, and proceeded to run the once-high ratings of WrestleShoot, into ratings in the depths of TOILETRY, with their inept and incoherrant ramblings. In fact the only calls they received, were complaints of how they sucked, and demanded the return of Porter, Wilds, and WrestleShoot! In fact, the calls got so BAD, that LAW/LOW refused to take any more telephone calls...UNLESS it was a call that THEY had set-up.
But NOW, WrestleShoot is returning...BIGGER and BETTER than ever...only THIS time, it will be WrestleShoot TV!
So REMEMBER...beginning on Sunday December 19th, YOU can be in the studio audience of WrestleShoot TV, with Michael Porter and Wildthing Rob Wilds! It all takes place at 3:00pm, at the UWA Academy of professional Wrestling, located in the La Sierra Community Center 5325 Engle Rd. in Carmichael, California.
For directions to the La Sierra Community Center, you can log on to www.mapquest.com , then enter YOUR location, and then 5325 Engle Rd. Carmichael, CA., wait a couple of moments, and you'll receive step-by-step directions to the Community Center.
