WrestleShoot Report (12-19-04 TV Tapings)
(as reporter by Michael Porter)
Well...WE DID IT! WrestleShoot TV has OFFICIALLY arrived!
Last night, Sunday December 19th, the WrestleShoot TV era, began with the initial tapings at the UWA Academy of Professional Wrestling, located at the La Sierra Community Center in Carmichael, CA.!
Wildthing Rob Wilds, myself, and the UWA would like to THANK EVERYONE who showed up at The Academy for Wrestleshoot TV! And that includes the 50 or so members of the studio audience who turned out!
Rob and I didn't know what to expect, as far as the turn-out...so, we were OVERWHELMED with the response, BOTH for the turn-out, AND for their inter-active participation in the WHOLE event...from the actual taping of the first two episodes to their reactions to the four UWA Match presented BEFORE the taping began, between the two tapings, and AFTER the second taping!
The EVENT started out with an 8-Man Over-the-Top Rope Battle Royal, with the winner gaining a WrestleShoot TV Interview Segment. The participants included Kid Kaos, UWA Tag Team Champions, Super Dave & Ridiculous Mike Rayne (Super-Diculous), UWA Cruiserweight Champion, The UWA Kid, the UWA Academy Student Champion, Vega, newcomer, DeeUnit, and Rage & Steel (Full Metal Jacket).
This was a WILD affair! Wildthing Rob Wilds and I TRIED to call the action. But, as with ALL Battle Royals, there was just TOO much action to call completely and do justice to all of the participants!
In the end, the last man standing, and the winner of the Battle Royal was Full Metal Jacket member, Steel.
Next up, we taped the VERY first episode of WrestleShoot TV!
It started out with me, being introduced to the crowd, entering to the strains of my theme song,
"T-R-O-U-B-L-E". Then Rob Wilds came out to HIS theme song, "Wild Thing".
We settled in to our announce positions, behind a table set-up INSIDE of the UWA Ring. On the table, the UWA Heavyweight Title Belt and the UWA Hardcore Title Belt, each on opposing ends. Also, in front of the table, stood the UWA Rookie of the Year Trophy, and setting on the center of the table, the UWA Ring Bell.
Rob and I started out by, almost unbelievably, staring out at the studio audience, the ring, the TV camera, and the UWA Logo in the background!
"WrestleShoot Has Come Back!", we declared! THIS time...it's WrestleShoot TV!
Rob and I welcomed the studio audience and TV viewers to Week One of WrestleShoot TV!
We then discussed the History of WrestleShoot, it's roots, and ALL of those involved with it's History.
Then, Rob and I gave some insight in to our individule backgrounds in Professional Wrestling, and included some interaction with the studio audience.
We then had, what will be a regular segment, "EARTHQUAKE WATCH", in which I report on the ongoing medical updates of my good friend, former WWF/E Superstar, Earthquake John Tenta, who is currently undergoing Chemotherapy treatments for cancer.
Next up, we had an Interview Segment with UWA Tag Team Champions, Super Dave and Ridiculous Mike Rayne (Super-Diculous).
That did it for the FIRST episode of WrestleShoot TV!
After the first taping, the studio audience was treated to TWO more UWA Match-Ups! The first being for the UWA Tag Team Championship, with the Champions, Super-Diculous (Super Dave & Ridiculous Mike Rayne), defending their Titles against the challenge of the MONSTEROUS team, and Number One Contenders for the Belts, Full Metal Jacket (Rage & Steel).
This was a BRUISING and STIFF battle between the smaller Super-Diculous and the much larger and, more powerful Full Metal Jacket. In the end, SPEED prevailed...THIS TIME...over SIZE and POWER, as Super-Diculous defeated Full Metal Jacket, to retain the Tag Titles.
Then, we had a Champion vs Champion Non-Title Match-Up, with UWA Cruiserweight Champion, The UWA Kid facing the UWA Academy Student Champion, Vega.
This was an OUTSTANDING exibition of high-flying, high-energy chain-wrestling, with some hard-hitting action between two of the most outstanding young wrestlers in the UWA, with The UWA Kid coming out victorious this time! And, in a GREAT show of sportsmanship and respect, both men shook hands and embraced, much to the delight and applause of the crowd!
We then went on to the SECOND taping of WrestleShoot TV.
Rob and I, once again welcomed the studio audience and viewers to Week Two of WrestleShoot TV!
And, more interaction with the audience took place until Rob noticed an unwelcomed "guest" sitting in the front row...Ric Micheals!
When asked just what he was doing there, Micheals responded by saying, "It's a FREE taping, it's open to the public, I'm a part of the public. So, I'm here!"
I responded by telling him that I put him out of the UWA with my victory over him on Nov. 13th, at the last UWA Event. He then made the comments about "FREE taping...the public...the whole 'I'm here' thing." So, there was NOTHING I could do but live with it. I'm just glad that Micheals didn't have a mic! Otherwise, who knows just what commotion he would have started.
Anyway, Rob and I went back to the business at hand.
We presented some News and Notes from the World of Professional Wrestling.
Then, we had our Interview Segment. This time, we had the winner of the Battle Royal, Steel and his Tag Team partner Rage (Full Metal Jacket). They weren't in the best of moods or frame of minds, following their loss to Super-Diculous earlier, in the Tag Title Match. Steel complained that his tights had been pulled by Mike Rayne. I stated that I did NOT see Rayne pull the tights. Steel got in my face and asked me if I was calling him a liar! Then Rage joined in, and in a threatening manner, Steel said that he and I "could go right now"! I explained...or TRIED to, that I had not SEEN Rayne pull the tights, so I couldn't say if he had or hadn't done so. That seemed to satisfy Rage and Steel. Then, Rob Wilds announced that Full Metal Jacket WOULD receive a re-match with Super-Diculous for the Tag Straps at the next UWA Event. We then thanked them for their time, and they left.
That did it for Week Two of WrestleShoot TV! We thanked the studio audience for coming, and the viewers for watching!
IT WAS A WRAP!
Then, we had the Main Event of the Evening...a Triple Threat Match, with newcomer, DeeUnit, Steel, and Ridiculous Mike Rayne!
This match was NUTS, with some of the MOST hard-hitting action AND some power moves that I haven't seen in a long, long time! In the end...SURPRISINGLY...the newcomer, the 300 lb. DeeUnit came out victorious! What a first impression this was for the BIG Unit, with the UWA and the UWA Fans!
Rob Wilds then announced that the NEXT WrestleShoot TV Tapings would take place at 3:00pm on Sunday January 9th, and would possibly feature a SPECIAL GUEST APPEARANCE by former WWF Intercontinental Champion, The Honky Tonk Man! The crowd popped HUGE!
All in all, this was a GREAT evening for Wildthing Rob Wilds, yours truely Michael Porter, and the UWA!
SPECIAL NOTE: I would like to give a SPECIAL, SPECIAL THAKS to Chris...who handled the sound AND the camera work! Thanks, Brother!
